About This Report

This country assessment examines the extent to which Niger has recognised and implemented the human rights to water and sanitation, as well as the human right to a safe, clean, and healthy environment, within its national laws and policies.

The report is part of HR2W’s ongoing series of country-level assessments spanning multiple regions, developed in response to growing international momentum following the Human Rights Council’s recognition of the right to a clean and healthy environment in October 2021 (Resolution 48/13), and its formal adoption by the UN General Assembly in July 2022.
