The Voluntary National Review (VNR) process, as outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, is designed to provide a platform for countries to assess and share their progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This report analyses the national reports from the VNR process, to see how they have included the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), and the key points that are made. There was a total of 39 countries submitting VNRs for the year 2023 plus the European Union (EU), which submitted its first regional VNR report. The participating countries are listed by region, noting the targets of SDG 6 that were referenced in their reports (SDG 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.b, and with the added area of Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM). It is interesting to note from the report which countries are actively reporting progress on water and sanitation, based on their willingness to report on SDG 6. It is also possible to see regional trends and highlights by analysing the results.
