This session, convened by Human Right 2 Water, the Asian Development Bank, the African Development Bank, and the Water Research Commission, will explore how legal best practices rooted in the Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) can be turned into practical community solutions. What to Expect

  • Introduction to HRBA: Amanda Loeffen from Human Right 2 Water will open the session, highlighting the critical link between legislation, project design, and the introduction of key publications on HRBA in water management.
  • Cultural Storytelling: Experience a unique artistic presentation by Emiliana Ipuana from the Wayuu people of Colombia, who will share her community’s deep connection to water through storytelling.
  • Regional Publication Launch: Senior representatives from the Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, the Water Research Commission in South Africa, and the Inter-American Development Bank will introduce key publications that reflect how HRBA can be applied in different regions.
  • Case Studies from Around the World: Learn from case studies presented by experts from Latin America, Asia, and Africa, who will discuss how integrating cultural sensitivity and HRBA has led to more sustainable and successful water projects.
  • Interactive Q&A: Engage with the panelists during a dynamic Q&A session. Pre-submitted questions and interactive tools will help guide the discussion, allowing for a rich exchange of ideas.
